Media
Inquiry proposal:
I chose to do something media related for one of my back ups bc I feel like it’ll be something different. plus i’ve always had an interest in photography and editing, along with using other social media platforms to help with it. I've always had this creative mindset when it comes to certain things, especially when it comes to taking photos. I may not be super photogenic but i sure as heck can take dope pictures. My goal for this inquiry is to learn about these different tips and tricks not only on the camera but for behind it and in front of it. maybe it’ll give me some ideas on how not to be awkward in photos and make other people feel comfortable on the other side as well. I believe it’ll be very beneficial because it doesn’t just have to be about photo shoots it could simply just be me taking pictures of my siblings/cousins/relatives at a sporting event, game or a family party. Who knows, maybe I'll have a career in photography. The portrait of a learner competency that i think would really show is skillful collaborator and effective communicator. These are two important skills to have not so much for taking pictures but for talking to whoever you are taking a picture of. as they are in front of the camera and their feelings or emotions can be shown all over their body whether they try to or not it’s there. so the things you say or do could effect the whole process. For the research portion of this inquiry could be me looking up different photographers and how they capture an image and I could even reach out to them and pick their brian about how they decided to go a certain way on a piece or tips about editing. I should reach out to wedding photographers, street photographers, local photographers and even concert/tour photographers. Which I believe could be something fun and exciting to do. As for my deadline goals, I was thinking of doing a more relaxed approach as I could post about it when I feel inspired or have an idea spur out of nowhere and just take pictures and research but I'd make sure I'm still up to speed with everyone else. I’d be able to use my social media platforms to spread the word about my photography/media skills. As it’s the easiest and fastest approach to spreading the word about all these new things these days. |
Inspiration/Influences:
I've always liked taking pictures, specifically candids. I believe they tell more of a story than the traditional staged "say cheese" type of pictures. I allow my surroundings to impact and persuade my creative eye for capturing the "perfect moment."
What I love about taking photos the most, is the element of surprise. Especially in the candids, something about a candid makes the story of that single picture come to life in its own way. Throughout my life I've always hated being in pictures, I'd prefer to be the one taking them.I always cam up with excuses to avoid being in front of the lens. Come to find out, I enjoy being in front and behind the camera!! I just very strongly dis-like staged picture and forcing myself not to be myself in front of a camera. If you can't express who you are in a picture, to me it just looks uncomfortable doing the same set poses etc. Although some staged pictures can be fun, it doesn't have that same effect as a candid.
Each picture tells a story, as the author, the photographer must create that story. Leaving the viewer to feel something after looking at it.
